The present lot demonstrates that Fortin is a talented artist with a great sense of color and who employs fluid, bold brushstrokes in depicting flowers in her still life paintings.  Mr. Fastov believes this particular example to be very aesthetically pleasing.  Artprice.com lists only one Fortin painting having ever sold at auction, a still life of dahlias (not illustrated), which brought a hammer price of $4,708 (47 ¼ in. x 21 5/8 in.) at Rambert (S.V.V.), Lyon, France on 11/19/2005.  This price supports a conclusion that at least two other bidders shared Mr. Fastov’s appreciation of this artist’s skill as a still life painter and that presale estimates in the range of $1,000-$2,000 are reasonable and justifiable
