This Lerner painting is an interesting amalgam of Impressionist and Expressionist technique and of many different high key colors, which is original, as is the perspective and composition. It is in good condition and attractively framed and will be esthetically appealing to a collector of American/Pennsylvania landscape art, who likes this amalgam. These considerations and the following auction records regarding Lerner's few sales, which only involved 2 landscape paintings, which are similar to this auction offering, but smaller than the Lerner auction painting (20 in. x 24 in.), warrant the conclusion that the presale estimate of $400-$600 is reasonable and justifiable. The highest auction price ever paid for a Lerner painting was $650 on 2/11/2006.
