The following biographical information has been taken from Askart.com:

“[Frank J. Zimmerer was born] in Nebraska City, NE on Jan. 23, 1882.  Artistically inclined at an early age, [he] studied at the AIC followed by further study in Scotland at the Glasgow School of Art and in Paris.  Early in his career he was active in Missouri, Chicago, Indianapolis, and NYC. An administrator, he was head of the art department of Northwest Missouri Normal.  By 1924 he had moved to Los Angeles into a studio on Olvera Street.  He died there on Oct. 17, 1965.

Askart.com records for Zimmerer reveal that he has never sold at auction.  Together with the foregoing biographical considerations, the high quality of this Impressionist landscape, its large size, and good condition, presale estimates in the range of  $300-$500 are both reasonable and justifiable.
