Note 1) The following biographical materials are taken from the Askart.com website:

"One of the more fascinating of our earlier painter/personalities, Paul Fjellboe was born in Odalen, Norway. He became a soloist with a choir in his home country and then came to America in 1905 with fellow Mormon convert, Christian Johannesen (father of famed pianist, Grant Johannesen)

Once in Salt Lake City, Fjellboe became a member of the local Norwegian Chorus and was increasingly well-known for rather richly painted though quite similar views in oil of Utah’s mountain landscape.

Note 2) The only two Fjellboe paintings for which auction sales are recorded warrant the conclusion that the presale estimate of $1,000-$2,000 is reasonable and justifiable. The highest auction price ever paid for a Fjellboe painting was $2,250 on 3/5/2006. The vigorous Impressionist brush work and vivid coloring of this Utah river and mountain scene is superior to that of both of these two Fjellboe paintings sold at auction.
