Note 1): Grant, a famous Scottish artist of the 19th century, was well known for his equestrian portraits of horses and their riders, which are highly esteemed and considered his most valuable paintings. Many of these paintings are not signed by Grant, but his style is so distinctive, that the buying public recognizes the paintings, as having been executed by Grant and pay very good prices for these kinds of works of art. This painting, which is of good size, 36 in. x 27 ¾ in., is in excellent condition, and is nicely framed in a gold frame. It features a handsome, appealing young lad and his anatomically highly accurate, but adorable black pony, is a very choice example of Grant’s works of this nature. See the Artprice.com photo images and accompanying sales data, which will lead the reader to the conclusion that the presale estimate of $25,000-$50,000 is reasonable and justifiable. A serious collector of Grant or of sporting art should give serious consideration to bidding on and buying this very large, handsome and attractive depiction of a handsome young boy on his cute black pony.
