Note 2) See Askart.com for Shang’s biography and Wang’s website, http://www.victorwang.net, for additional information concerning his personal history, including his early years in China, where he was born (but does not provide the year of his birth); his education; the 17 almost annual solo exhibitions from 1988-2010 he has been given by a wide variety of commercial art galleries; the 19 artists group exhibitions, in which he has participated in every year from 1990-2010; and 17 reviews of his art from 1991-2008. This website displays a significant number of his paintings. The reader will note that Wang’s style of painting has significantly changed since the early work that is being offered in this and the succeeding lot, which are very esthetically pleasing, but the style and technique are different. If the reader goes to the website of Odon Wagner Gallery, http://www.odonwagner.com, he or she will see that as of September 15, 2012, of the 5 Wang paintings that it is offering for sale, 4 are priced at between $10,001-$20,000 and 1 is being offered at in excess of $20,000. Another, sixth painting in this group, was sold for between $10,001-$20,000. The foregoing considerations warrant the conclusion that the presale estimate of $3,000-$4,000 is reasonable and justifiable.
