There is no doubt that both Avissar paintings in this sale are of the highest quality and very aesthetically appealing.  Moreover, their value will almost certainly increase when Avissar ceases to  produce original works.

Per Artprice.com, works by Avissar have not been presented at auction recently.  Even though he was born in Israel, all of his sales have been conducted at French auction houses.  His last two sales of consequence occurred in 2006 and 2008 (see below).  The 2006 sale involved a painting with the same subject matter as the following Avissar work and brought $2,000.  Too, it was only somewhat larger than the this lot.  However, from 1989-1997, 12 of Avissar's paintings sold for sums that greatly exceed the conservative presale estimates of the present and subsequent lot.  One need only consider those same sales records (see below) to recognize the potential for significant economic reward.  To this end, estimates in the range of $2,500-$3,500 for the current Avissar painting lot, and $1,5,00-$2,000 for the subsequent one, are both reasonable and justifiable.
