The wine case bears the Kittinger brass label and paper sticker with #CW31, Serial #40, and branded CW. We also have a copy of the 1945 Kittinger catalogue, which gives an approximate time of manufacture.
As for condition, the wine case remains in excellent overall condition. The upper hinged tray is dovetailed, while the lower case is joined by mortise and tenons. We did not find any breaks. The surface condition is very good with only minor surface abrasions. It does not appear to have been refinished. Of the six original decanters, three remain.
