The USS Raleigh was first commissioned in Boston Navy Yard in February 1924 with Captain Watts at its command.
The Raleigh was docked at Pearl Harbor and was hit by a torpedo during the infamous Japanese attack. The Raleigh survived the attack and only a few of her men were wounded. The Raleigh received three battle stars for service in World War II and was decommissioned in 1945.
