MOORISH LUSTER FAIENCE AMPHORA, Late 19th-early 20th century. Of ovoid form with elongated waisted neck with two flattened handles, painted in underglazed blue and luster with arabesques, calligraphy and animal decoration - 30 in. (76 cm.) high.
Estimate $800-1,200

An earlier jar of similar form is in the National Museum of Spanish-Moslem Art in Granada, Spain.

PROVENANCE: Acquired in New York in the 1930s.


A chip to and rubbing of the glaze on the mouth, small losses to the glaze on the arms
