AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY SECRETARY BOOKCASE. Made New York, circa 1775. In two parts. Upper portion has dentiled, broken arch pediment centering finial (19th century) above plain frieze over pair paneled doors opening to shelves. Lower portion has slant front to eight arcaded pigeonholes over six narrow drawers centering pair letter slides and prospect door; four graduated full-width drawers with original bat-wing brass pulls; claw-and-ball front feet. - H: 94 in.; W: 44 in.; D: 24 in.
