CONTEMPORARY TABLE-TOP ZEN SCULPTURE WITH SAND-RAKING BASE. Contemporary table-top sculpture presents a striking juxtaposition of classical mythology and minimalist Zen aesthetics. Dominating the upper section is a modern stone sculpture, carved in the form of a billowing cloud that subtly incorporates the head of Zeus rendered in a lighter, contrasting material. The god's power is dramatically conveyed by jagged thunderbolts, crafted from metal, which emanate from the cloud. Extending downwards from the cloud are numerous thin, polished rods, resembling rainfall or lightning strikes, which anchor the sculpture into its base—a miniature Zen garden. This base features a bed of white sand housed in a dark tray, complete with tiny raking tools, inviting contemplative interaction and contrasting the celestial, volatile power above with the earthly, meditative serenity of the rake-able sand. - H: 27".
