NIGERIAN YORUBA IFA DIVINATION TAPPERS. Two carved possibly Yoruba divination tappers, known as an iroke Ifa, from Nigeria. These tappers are significant ceremonial objects used by diviners, called babalawo, in the Ifa divination system of the Yoruba people. Diviners use the tapper to strike a divination board, summoning Orunmila, the deity of fate and wisdom, at the beginning of a divination session. The figures carved on the tapper often hold symbolic meaning. - Height: 3.5 inches.
