"NIXON RESIGNS; HE URGES A TIME OF HEALING; FORD WILL TAKE OFFICE TODAY": NEWSPAPER ACCOMPANIED BY ADMISSION TICKETS TO NIXON IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS, New York Times, August 9, 1974. Nixon's resignation was the dramatic ending of the Watergate saga that engrossed the nation for nearly two years. Under intense scrutiny, Nixon faced impeachment by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives and a subsequent trial by the United States Senate. So sure were Congressional leaders in both houses of this likelihood that tickets of admission to the Visitor's Gallery were printed. Framed with this historic copy of the New York Times are even rarer tickets; for what would have been the August 19, 1974 U.S. House Impeachment proceedings and the October 7, 1974 trial in the U.S. Senate.
- Framed, 22 in. x 23 in.
