ARTIST PROFILE: Each summer for the last twenty plus years, Rod has had a one man show of watercolors at Rehoboth Beach. These exhibitions have been an enormous success. The subject of Rod' s art has been the Delaware shore line as well as the farms and towns of the Delmarva Peninsula. Rod periodically returned to more urban themes with an emphasis on industrial forms like power plants, bridges, and ships from New York and Philadelphia. Opportunities for travel have expanded his work and subject matter to include Cancun and Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta is now playing an ever increasing role in his work. Rod had been active in the Baltimore art scene during the eighties and nineties. He has painted many large murals inside and outside public buildings. His previous work had centered on Baltimore and Washington urban landscapes. They are in numerous corporate and private collections. He has been known as an energetic teacher for many years. He has been teaching drawing, painting, and design at Maryland Institute College of Art, at Stevenson University, and for the Community Colleges of Baltimore County. In recent years he has worked exclusively at Stevenson University but due to the dangers of Covid, Rod has recently had to retire from teaching at Stevenson University and now is devoted to painting and travel. He is an active member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society as well as the Rehoboth Art League.
