DUNCAN PHILLIPS (AMERICAN, 1886-1966). PLUMS AND A PEACH, signed lower right with monogram. Inscribed on frame with "Gift to Marjorie Phillips from Duncan Phillips" and titled on reverse. Oil on canvas - 14 in. x 18 in.; and BOUQUET, signed lower right with monogram. Oil on canvas - 20 in. x 14 in.

Duncan Phillips founded and directed The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, the first museum devoted to modern art in the United States. He, like his wife, Marjorie, was a painter.
