Marie Von Rouvroy was an important 19th century portrait artist from the cultural center Dresden. She was a student of the German masters: Scholz, Grosse, and Bottcher. She is represented in several important European museums. Her body of work is small and her works rarely come into the public domain.


Not lined; some craquelure; slight stretcher stress. Canvas rippling at upper left corner; some dirt and darkened varnish embedded in canvas weave. 2 very small areas of flaking at right side, one below boy's head lower right corner, one below bridge at middle right side. UV: heavy varnish, no apparent restoration.
