Baron von Leidersdorff came to the United States from his native Denmark in 1921. He lived in Greenwich, CT, and Westchester County, NY, and had a gallery on Fifth Avenue in New York City. In 1939 he purchased Guthrie Hall, Albemarle County, VA, where he bred race horses and Angus cattle, and gained a reputation in the county as an adventuresome art dealer. Later, he moved to 3323 R Street in Georgetown, Washington, DC.
