FRENCH PEWTER DOUBLE-EARRED PORRINGER (ECUELLE A OREILLES), Circa 1679. With handles, each of which appear to have cast-relief stylized flower in center, nearest bowl, with three floral-like decorative appendages in which leaf-like sections are separated by curved ridges. Maker's mark on bottom. - 4 3/4 in. diam.

See plate 16A in"Etains Francais Des XVII Et XVII Siecles" by B.A. Douroff for porringer (ecuelle a oreilles) from Bordeaux made in 1679, which has curved ridges in its tabs or ears (Oreilles), somewhat similar to those manifested in this lot.
