PLAINS INDIAN FLINT OR STONE TOMAHAWK,19th-20th century, possibly Lakota, Sioux. With a tapering, pointed animal horn affixed by leather sinews to the top of the wooden handle. A decorative object is affixed with a leather sinew and dark band to the pointed tip of the horn. The flint or stone blade is held in place by a cut-out fitted hole in the wood handle and crossed leather straps on the side of the handle, which are held in place by a brass tack. A shock of animal fur or hair encircles the wood handle immediately below the place where the flint or stone blade is held in place. Below are decorative brass tacks encircling the handle. Brass tacks encircle the bottom of the slanted handle - 29 in. long. Estimate $400-600
