Note: Adrian Saxe is best known for work that shows influences of classic Chinese ceramics, which he enhances by adding a humorous twist. He often uses Sèvres glazes and gold luster on his pieces, which typically began with a cast component. Saxe studied with Ralph Bacerra and John Coplans at Chouinard Art Institute. His early work was primarily concerned with site-specific sculpture that he created using large numbers of ceramic pieces. He has worked with stoneware and earthenware, although his best known pieces are porcelain.
