EARLY AND RARE TIFFANY STUDIOS SLAG GLASS TABLE LAMP BY JOHN DIKEMAN. Triangular shaped base, on stepped feet; conforming shade. The whole in mottled green and teal slag glass, inset with various shield-form emblems - 18 1/4 in. high.
Estimate $5,000-7,000

HISTORY: John Dikeman served as Foreman of Tiffany Studios Lamp Shop during the early years of the 20th century up until its closure in 1932. He was privy to Tiffany's lamp making techniques and was instrumental in the design and manufacturing process.

This lamp is one of three known identical examples made by John Dikeman. It characterizes the transition to the Art Deco style with its geometric shape and stepped feet. The lamp is more likely an early example of his work in that it lacks the sophistication of later models and experience.

PROVENANCE: Descended through the Dikeman family.

Shade has three heat cracks on two sides, the base has a single heat crack. Otherwise the lamp is in good condition. It is unsigned.

Sold for $7,000
