Sale 51 Lot 1301 FRENCH EMPIRE-STYLE FIGURAL BRONZE-DORÉ AND MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK. Circa 1900, early 20th century. Time and strike spring driven movement with bell strike; brass works signed "Samuel Marti" "Medaille d"or 1900" initials "LC" encircled with "#261; large bronze sculpture of scholarly putti seated on books, hand with pen and paper (missing). in deep contemplation, leaning on gilt bronze square containing porcelain clock; dial with Arabic hour markers with painted swags of rose buds; ornate gold filigree clock hands; bronze-doré rooster atop clock standing on severed head with knife and mallet; marble plinth with gilt bronze insets, supported by four bronze round toupie feet . - 13 in. x 11 1/2 in. Estimate $1,500-2,000 Condition: two or three minute chips to edge of marble; "paper" held by putti is missing; case is in very good condition; suspension is bent Sold for $1,200
