PROVENANCE: Descended to present owner from Harrison Howell Dodge , born in Georgetown, D.C. (1852-1937). The third Superintendent of Mount Vernon, grandson of Samuel Ladd Howell. Harrison Howell Dodge was the father of Anna Howell, great grandmother of the present owner, who married U.S. Major E.R. Heiberg I. He was the first death in WWI, prior to the U.S. entering the war. He died in Italy and is buried at West Point along with three generations of Heibergs.



Possibly lined; surface dirt and debris with a small 1 inch crack in paint lower right in jacket.
