This painting is listed as #7, "Frosty Morning", in Charles Rosen's personal catalogue raisonne at the Smithsonian American Art Museum archives. It was exhibited as #305, "Frosty Morning", at the 1907 National Academy of Design Winter Exhibition and was prominently pictured in the exhibition catalogue.

The painting, with its forceful design and brushwork, is a wonderful example of Rosen's sought-after impressionist winter landscapes of New Hope, Pennsylvania.

Sold by the artist to Mr. & Mrs. George C. Warner, Jr. of Bethesda, MD
By family descent to present owner.
