LEO MEIERSDORFF (American / German, 1934 - 1994). JAZZ MUSICIANS, Watercolor and ink on paper. Signed lower right hand corner. Framed. Not examined out of frame.

ARTIST PROFILE: Leo Meiersdorff was an American-German painter best known for his Expressionist ink and watercolor drawings of jazz musicians. His work is characterized by its lively approach to caricature and loosely, spindly line work, and is often set in live music clubs of Europe, New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. Early in his career, Meiersdorff was influenced by German Expressionists like Max Pechstein and Karl Schmitt-Rottluf, though his works utilize more reserved marks and color palette than his influencers.
