DUTCH SCHOOL (18th / 19th Century). The Young Artist, Oil on board (metal plate) painting depicts a scene with two young boys and a portrait on an easel. One boy, dressed in an elaborate 18th-century style costume with a tricorn hat and holding a cane, is posing. The other boy, in a simpler coat and a red cap, stands to the side, holding a palette and brush, seemingly in the act of painting the portrait. The portrait on the easel shows a man in a powdered wig and formal attire. The setting appears to be an artist's studio, with other framed artworks visible in the background. Framed.
