ARTIST PROFILE: Marjory Stoller is a distinguished watercolorist based in the Washington, D.C. area whose artistic practice is informed by a rich professional background in design and museum management. A graduate of Smith College, Stoller previously held project management roles at prestigious firms such as Herman Miller Inc. and Raymond Loewy Inc. before serving as the Director of Special Exhibits at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. Since retiring and discovering her passion for watercolor, she has refined her technique through studies at the Torpedo Factory and Glen Echo’s Yellow Barn, developing a signature style characterized by a "flowing composition" that emphasizes texture, depth, and the interplay of light and shadow. Her process often involves flooding water over paper and layering paint to create atmospheric depth, a technique that has earned her place in numerous juried exhibitions and private collections spanning from California to Italy.
