JAMES CRAWFORD (Canadian, born 1980). Disgruntled Watchman Spoon, 2010, Hand carved ceremonial spoon sculpture made of alder, abalone and copper. Wooden sculpture Acquired in 2010 at "Spirit Wrestler Gallery" (Vancouver, BC). Display stand is included with the lot.

ARTIST PROFILE: James Crawford was born in, and raised all over northern British Columbia. He spent ten years working in the Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve on Haida Gwaii as a Watchman. Living and working in the old Haida village sites inspired him to attend classes at the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art, where he completed his diploma in First Nations Fine Art in 2010. A member of the NaiKun KilGaaway Clan of Haida Gwaii, he now resides in Lekwungen Territory, in Victoria, B.C. with his wife and fellow artist, Kristy, and their two children. - 16 h x 4.5 w x 5 d
