ETTORE CUMBO Italian, 1833-1899 Pastoral Stream with Distant Castle Oil on canvas Painting that captures a rural moment along a shallow riverbank. In the foreground, a traveler in a wide-brimmed hat is seen walking with a dog near a cluster of large, leafy trees that dominate the center of the composition. In the middle distance, a stone castle or fortified manor sits beneath a soft, hazy mountain, while a few cattle graze in the open fields nearby. The artist uses a warm, natural palette of greens, browns, and soft blues, applying the paint with a light touch to create a peaceful, atmospheric effect. Housed in a classic gold frame with a repeating bead-and-leaf pattern, the work represents the traditional European interest in harmonizing human presence with the enduring beauty of the countryside. Artwork: 9.5 x 14.5 inches (excluding frame) $150-200
