MALIAN DOGON COMB WITH TWO STYLIZED HORNBILLS AT THE TOP. Two items: a patinated Malian comb with a pair of hornbill and an unidentified light wooden comb (modern). The patinated wooden comb with the two stylized bird figures at the top is Dogon from Mali, West Africa. In Dogon cosmology, the hornbill is a highly significant bird. It symbolizes fertility and the first Dogon ancestors.
