AMERICAN SCHOOL 20th century Spring Creek Through the Valley Signed "FRED BARNES" lower right. A gentle stream winds through lush green meadows in the foreground, bordered by tall grasses and scrubby bushes. Bare-branched trees and colorful autumn foliage frame the middle distance, while soft rolling hills fade into a misty lavender sky beyond. The loose, impressionist brushwork and delicate palette of greens, mauves, and golds give the scene a dreamy, tranquil quality. Framed. 21.5 x 27.5 inches; frame: 29 x 39 inches $280-450
