NAPOLEON III ROSEWOOD AND MARQUETRY SLANT-FRONT WRITING DESK, Third quarter of the 19th century. Rectangular top having gilt-metal gallery; slant-front opening to fitted interior and writing surface; serpentine apron; raised on cabriole legs - 38 1/2 in. x 30 in. x 19 in.

Overall Good Usable Condition:

with small chips and losses throughout. Possible cigarette burn to center as well as UV damage and water marks to rectangular top. Slant-front has small dents and veneer losses. Repair to veneer at both lower right and left corners. Fitted interior has loss of veneer to left center drawer and slight discoloration of finish under center drawer. Brass hardware of sliding left drawer is worn from use. Slight chips and sun exposure to serpentine apron. Left side has repair to veneer, small chips and sun exposure to lower right corner. Right side has repair to veneer, sun exposure, and three tiny white drips of paint. Abrasions, scratches and losses to legs from use. The desk is sturdy.
