SIGNED SPOONER AMERICAN SHERATON CHERRY MAPLE AND BIRD'S EYE MAPLE FOUR-DRAWER BOW-FRONT CHEST, Made by Alden Spooner, Massachusetts/New Hampshire, ca 1815. Rectangular top with checkered inlaid bow-front edge, has four shaped corners, the front porringer over reeded columns above beehive turnings; tapering round legs end in ball feet; four inlaid drawers with original cast brass oval pulls; branded signature on back end of top. - 44 in. x 42 in. x 21 1/4 in.
Estimate $1,200-1,800

PROVENANCE: Paper affixed to interior of top drawer, indicating that the piece was "the wedding present of my great-grandfather, Jack to his wife Mary Meacham 1817"

Sides exhibit cracking. Drawer sides appear to be replaced or sanded for smooth use. Drawer runners look re-done. Small losses on apron. Original brasses.
