LATE 19TH CENTURY LOUIS VUITTON RAYEE STRIPE STEAMER TRUNK. Late 19th Century. #22476. Trunk in striped canvas to exterior. Hinged cover opens to interior fitted with three pink/white broadcloth trays, all with original straps; the top tray is divided and lifts out to reveal a second compartment. The second and third tray are not fitted, and also have original straps. Paper label to interior in the form of a travel trunk, #22476 Louis Vuitton, 289 Oxford Street, Regent Circus London Rue Scribe Paris. Handles to both ends of the trunk. Left end of trunk monogramed WHHN Boston. Right end having Wll N in a diamond shield and Boston. Labels to interior. - 27" high x 39 1/2" wide x 23" deep.

General wear to the canvas associated with age. There are no leather straps present to the exterior. The lock is unmarked. The bottom of the interior of the trunk, as well as the interior to the cover has water staining. There are strips of old newspapers to the sides of the interior of the trunk and an area to the upper left of the cover which has an old repair done with brown paper. Traces of labels to exterior. The lock is unmarked. No key is present.
