BEGGARSTAFFS: WILLIAM NICHOLSON AND JAMES PRYDE (English / Scottish, 19th / 20th century). A TRIP TO CHINATOWN MUSICAL POSTER, PLATE 184, CIRCA 1895, "Beggarstaffs" (active: 1893-1899) was the pseudonym used by Williams Nicholson (English, 1872-1949) and his brother in-law James Pryde (Scottish, 1866-1941). Lithograph from "Les Maitres de L'Affiche" series; printed by Imprimerie Chaix (Paris). Jules Cheret's printing company (i.e., "Imprimerie Chaix") started the poster of the month club. Subscribers received 4 posters each month and a bonus four for those who subscribed for the next year. Unframed.
