Sale 209 Lot 11 FOUR FRAMED HISTORICAL PORTRAITS. Framed historical portraits / engravings as follows (from left to right): Charlemagne, specifically noted as the 23rd King of France and Emperor. This print depicts the legendary medieval ruler of the Frankish kingdom and the first Holy Roman Emperor. Henrico van der Borcht junior. The text indicates the print was made after a drawing by "Holbein" (likely Hans Holbein the Younger) and engraved by "Waller" (likely Cornelis Waumans). The date "1625" is also visible. GEORGE King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland wearing an elaborate wig, ermine-trimmed robe, and the Order of the Garter insignia. And, ARTUS DE COSSE, Brissac. He is described with various titles, including "Maréchal de France." He was a Marshal of France and a prominent military commander and diplomat during the French Wars of Religion. The coat of arms below his portrait also confirms his identity. All are framed. Not examined out of frame. Estimate $150-200 Sold for $50
