THREE PLAINS NATIVE AMERICAN BEADED UMBILICAL AMULETS. Set of three beaded umbilical amulets are made by Plains Native American tribes (such as the Lakota, Crow, Cheyenne, and Blackfoot). These amulets, also known as chekpa ognake, were used to hold a newborn baby's umbilical cord. They were used for a baby boy, as the lizard symbolizes things like agility, survival, the ability to regenerate (like a tail), and sometimes, a connection to the spirit world. - Length: (approx.) 8 inches.
