ARTIST PROFILE: Naomi Duckman Lorne (1902–1964) was a prolific Brooklyn-born artist and leader within the mid-century American art scene, recognized for her versatile expertise in painting, sculpture, and decoration. Educated at the Art Students League and several New York colleges, she refined her talent under esteemed mentors such as Aldro T. Hibbard and Frederick J. Waugh before embarking on an extensive exhibition career that spanned prestigious venues like the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Beyond her creative output, which included international traveling shows in Europe and Japan, Lorne was a dedicated advocate for the arts, serving as a Public Relations Director and President for various art societies and participating in the Fine Art Committee for the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Her legacy is preserved in at least ten major museum collections and numerous private holdings, reflecting a life committed to both her personal artistic vision and the broader institutional growth of the New York art community.
