A Pastoral Allegory of Abundance
Pencil on paper laid down to a board.
Undated and unsigned large horizontal composition depicting an idyllic scene reminiscent of a classical Golden Age, rendered in a delicate Neoclassical or Academic style. The artwork features a large gathering of mostly nude figures—men, women, and children—engaged in various pastoral and domestic activities. In the center, a prominent male figure sits with his arm extended toward a group of dancing women in the distance, while a mother reclines beside him, nursing an infant. Framed.
