Double Portrait of Mahdara Qal Tawalda Madhen, an Ethiopian educated in France, Double portrait of Maderakal (or Maderkal), a Tigreen man from Ethiopia, published in the mid-19th century. The sheet was included in the book titled: Voyage en Abyssinie" (Voyage to Abyssinia). Mahdara Qal Tawalda Madhen was discovered as an orphan by the French explorer Théophile Lefebvre during his travels in Ethiopia and taken to France, where he studied on a French government scholarship.
