NICHOLAS MULLER PATINATED METAL FIGURAL MANTEL CLOCK, Mid-19th century. Time and strike spring driven movement with bell strike; replaced paper dial; Muller, son of a German goldsmith, cast his cases with high lead content enabling a sharper and more detailed casting; depicting young lad harvesting wheat and tying sheaf of wheat, signifying prosperity; back of cast metal case marked "N. Muller" "23"; clock works marked "E. Ingraham and Company", "Pat Oct 8 78-Nov 11 78" "Bristol, Conn"; movement attached to wooden back board; major Connecticut clock manufacturers fitted their movements to Muller's castings; - 18 1/2 in. high.
