Baron John von Leidersdorff, Washington, DC and Albemarle County, VA.

Baron von Leidersdorff came to the United States from his native Denmark in 1921. He lived in Greenwich, CT, and Westchester County, NY, and had a gallery on Fifth Avenue in New York City. In 1939 he purchased Guthrie Hall, Albemarle County, VA, where he bred race horses and Angus cattle, and gained a reputation in the county as an adventuresome art dealer. Later, he moved to 3323 R Street in Georgetown, Washington, DC.


Lined. Fine craquelure throughout with minor stretcher stress. Minor scattered losses near edges.

UV: heavy varnish makes restoration difficult to detect.
