FINE ENGLISH COROMANDEL GENTLEMANS TRAVELING CASE WITH EXTENSIVE TOILETRY & WRITING FITTINGS, 19th century. Marked. Rectangular traveling case, lid having mother of pearl inlay and interior with blue velvet, a drop-down writing surface and mirror frame; Main compartment having eight miscellaneous crystal containers with silverplate covers, a shaving brush in case, various mother of pearl tools consisting of a button hook, a nail file and razor. Also a bone razor engraved James S. Sloane, 1842, a mother of pearl pocket knife, also engraved James S. Sloane 1842, Quebec, North America, 1838. Both in English paper cases marked Busy B. S. Barton, Sheffield & Rogers, Cutlers to Her Majesty. Lift out tray reveals a letter box. Box also having a compartment on one side. - Approx. 6 1/2" high x 12" wide x 8 7/8" deep.

Areas of loss to the front corners of box. Surface abrasion throughout, minor crack to the cover. Dent to lid of one container. Lacking two mother of pearl implements. Hinges requiring a bit of adjustment. Otherwise, very good for such a nice box.
