19TH CENTURY LITHOGRAPH AFTER MELCHOIR D'HONDECOETER, THE CHICKENS & BIRDS OF PREY, Published Dresden, by Fr. Hanfstaengel, 1838. Matted, of the period lithograph titled Die Huhner und der Raubvogel: The Chickens and the Birds of Prey, measuring 17 1/8" high x 21" wide. Laid down on paper measuring 17 7/8" high x 21 3/4" wide.

'Melchior d'Hondecoeter (1636 –1695), Dutch animalier painter painted virtually exclusively bird subjects, usually exotic or game, in park-like landscapes. Hondecoeter's paintings featured geese (brent goose, Egyptian brent and red-breasted brent), fieldfares, partridges, pigeons, ducks, magpies and peacocks, among others.'
