CARL WEINEDEL (American, 1795-1845). MRS. ANN BLOUNT PETTIGREW, Signed "Weinedel" at left and dated 1825. Oil on ivory. Oval portrait miniature depicting lady with ringlets wearing coral bead necklace. In yellow gold oval frame engraved on reverse, "Oct. 12, 1813/May 8, 1814" and "March 7, 1814/May 17, 1815" and "Mrs. Ann Blount Pettigrew was born 16 Nov. 1795, & died 1 July 1830." Reverse of frame has crystal window revealing lock of hair. 3 1/4 in. x 2 1/4 in. In lot with unsigned copy of original miniature, in chased gold early Victorian frame also with crystal enclosing panel of woven hair. 3 1/4 in. x 2 5/8 in.

PROVENANCE: By family descent through the historically noted Pettigrew family of North Carolina and Virginia

Fine to excellent condition. Appears to never have been removed from case.
