STANLEY FRANCIS SMITHEMAN (British, 1927 - 2016). The Turbulent Sea Under a Cloudy Sky, Oil painting probably depicting a naval battle. It features three sailing ships on a turbulent sea under a cloudy sky. The ship in the foreground, larger and more detailed, appears to be firing its cannons. This ship has a green hull with yellow and black accents, and its sails are full, suggesting it's actively engaged in combat. The flags on the ships are difficult to discern clearly, but one appears to be the British Union Jack. - Sight: 4.5 x 6.5 inches; frame: 17 x 19.5 inches Estimate $200-250
