CONGOLESE NGOMBE PEOPLE NGULU EXECUTIONER'S SWORD. Ngombe sword, more accurately known as a Ngulu (or sometimes Ngombe Ngulu), is a distinctive and historically significant weapon from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Associated primarily with the Ngombe people, but also used by other groups like the Ngala and Mongo, these swords are notable for their unique, often intimidating shape. The most defining feature of a Ngulu is its sickle-like or scythe-shaped blade. It is typically a single-edged, broad iron blade with a non-cutting back and a semi-circular concavity. The hilt is often made of wood. Historically, such sword was widely known as an "executioner's sword." - Lenght: 27 inches.
