The etching depicts of the compelling rivalries in boxing history, involving two of the legendary "Black Heavyweights" (Sam Langford :The "Boston Bonecrusher") and Sam McVea: The "Oxnard Cyclone")who were often denied a shot at the official world title due to the "color line." However, the fight between Sam McVea and Sam Langford was not a single match, but a historic series of at least 15 bouts fought over many years, with some sources claiming up to 16. The etching may illustrate a match which occurred in March 1913 at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia. Unframed.
