ARTIST PROFILE: Judith Seligson (b. 1950) is a Philadelphia-born artist renowned for her "hard-edge" abstractions that explore the existential boundaries between geometric forms. A graduate of Harvard University who later studied under Flora Natapoff and audited Philip Guston’s seminars, Seligson’s work is deeply informed by the theories of Josef Albers, Paul Klee, and Hans Hofmann. Her unique technical process involves starting with graphite drawings and hand-applying oil paint without the use of rulers or tape, relying entirely on her eye to define the intersections of color. Beyond painting, her multidisciplinary practice encompasses collage, video, and textiles, and her works are held in prestigious collections such as the Library of Congress and the Schlesinger Library.
